Discipleship School

A structured season of learning that grounds you in Scripture, prayer, identity in Christ, and how to walk out the Christian life on campus.

What it is

A Foundation to Build On

Our Discipleship School equips you with sound, Scripture-based teaching, helping you build a strong foundation for spiritual growth and a deeper walk with Christ.

The school starts immediately after the Prayer Conference and runs for four weeks, ending with a graduation. Something runs every day: sessions are online at 8:00 PM, apart from Saturdays, when the class is held physically on campus at 12:00 PM. The executives and the pastorate teach, and the prayer department anchors it.

It is also the way into serving — graduating from the school is what qualifies you to join a department, and every department member goes through it first.

Practicalities

What You're Signing Up For

Four weeks, online most nights and on campus on Saturdays — here is what that means

  • WHEN IT STARTS

Immediately after the Prayer Conference, which runs twice a year — in November and again around March or April.

  • HOW LONG

Four weeks from start to graduation. One month of your term, and then you are through it.

  • WHEN IT MEETS

Every day for four weeks. Sessions run online at 8:00 PM, except Saturdays, when the class is held physically on campus at 12:00 PM.

  • WHO TEACHES

The executives and the pastorate teach, and the prayer department anchors the school throughout.

Curriculum

What You Will Cover

Four weeks, four themes — from the gospel itself through to the work of the Holy Spirit

  1. Week 1

    The Gospel & The Call

    • Salvation: understanding the gospel and the new birth
    • Identity in Christ as a believer
    • Discipleship: what it means to follow Jesus, and the cost
  2. Week 2

    The Word

    • Bibliology: what the Bible is, and why we can trust it
    • How to study the Bible: methods, tools and habits
    • Bible exegesis: walking through Matthew together
  3. Week 3

    The Devotional Life

    • Prayer I: understanding prayer and hearing God's voice
    • Prayer II: kinds of prayer, and how to pray effectively
    • Developing a consistent devotional structure, and evangelism
  4. Week 4

    The Holy Spirit

    • The Holy Spirit: his person, role and work in the believer
    • Spiritual gifts: discovering and operating in your gifts
    • A final session of prayer, and the exam
  • Teaching and prayer alternate

Teaching sessions land on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Every other night of the week is a prayer session, which is how the prayer department anchors the school.

  • A chapter of Matthew a day

The whole school reads through Matthew together — one chapter each day, all twenty-eight across the twenty-eight days.

  • You are assessed as you go

There are assessments through the course, and a final exam on the last Saturday before graduation.
